Hedges and Horses
Barks Road has enjoyed working with multiple generations of this family on their functioning horse farm, where we manage the ever-evolving needs of a multi-home property. The landscape we created spaciously accommodates the client’s varied social events, from birthday parties for grandchildren to large fundraisers.
The property’s hundred-year-old structures sat at odds with new ones; the arrival experience needed work; and ancient trees had been neglected for years. The agricultural origin of the land was obvious, and we established a stone “spine” linking the new and old spaces. Repetition of materials and plantings allows the history of this wonderous place to emerge.
We are still maintaining their gardens today.
