OUR TEAM

Eric Blamphin, RLA, Owner/Principal

Eric has a degree in landscape architecture, over 30 years of experience in the industry, and has been licensed in Maryland since 1996. In 2005, Eric founded Barks Road, named after his childhood home in upstate New York. He grew up surrounded by the pastoral scenery of a former dairy farm, and its natural beauty is influential in his designs. Customers trust Eric implicitly with his choices and vision. One of his many talents is his ability to let the style and character of the environment, its structures, and the people who will be using it, inform and inspire the landscape design.

Pedro Contreras

Director- Construction Management

Pedro has mastered working with boulders and flagstones. Terracing, patios, and naturalized pool embankments are all part of his skillset,. For over 20 years, Pedro has been creating beautiful exterior spaces across Maryland, and we are so lucky to have him on the Barks Road team!

Mark Kessinger

Director- Landscape Operations

With 20+ years of experience in residential design and management and a Landscape Architecture degree from Virginia Tech, Mark brings his construction knowledge to the team. An original member of Barks Road, we are thrilled to have Mark back with us designing and managing projects with the detail we love.

Tony Smouse

Senior Landscape Designer

Tony contributes over twenty-five years of experience in residential design, management, and horticulture. As a project manager, he obtained his landscape design and horticulture certification from George Washington University. With his passion for outdoor environments and home improvements, Tony has developed award-winning landscape projects throughout the DMV region.

Kane Cunningham

Landscape Designer

Kane is a Maryland native raised on Kent Island and a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. Drawing on extensive hands-on experience working alongside contractors and landscapers, Kane brings a practical, detail-driven approach to his design work. His background in the hospitality industry has fostered a strong commitment to clear communication and excellent client service. Inspired by the outdoors, Kane creates thoughtful, enduring landscapes tailored specifically to each home and site.

Michael Paddy

Master Carpenter

Michael is a true craftsman. From beautiful pavilions to sprawling decks to gorgeous gates/trellises, Mike uses his carpentry skills to enhace many of our enchanting spaces where our clients can relax and unwind. Maybe his ingenuity comes from his background in the arts, blending that creativity with natural wood material to fashion one of a kind structures.

Stephen Jackson

Account Manager- Estate Management

Stephen brings over 15 years of experience in property improvement and maintenance to our team. Stephen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Plant Science. With a comprehensive background in landscaping, horticulture, and property management, he takes a practical, detail-oriented approach to every project. A resident of Deale, Maryland, Stephen enjoys spending his time outside of work with his wife and two children, gardening, and enjoying life by the Chesapeake Bay.

Fredis Sola Rivera

Project Manager- Estate Management

Fredis is your property’s best friend. His knowledge and expertise in lawn and garden management is integral to keeping our projects perfect. A team player, his days are busy evaluating properties, leading crews, and troubleshooting the occasional irrigation/lighting issue.

Amy Wernecke

Office Manager

Amy has an extensive background in home building with over two decades of experience and wears many hats at Barks Road! In addition to working with our design build division writing contracts and amendments, she is always ready to assist the team to get the job done.

Natalie Shina

Account Manager & Marketing

Natalie’s passion for marketing and social media brings a fresh perspective to Barks Road. Working as a Project Coordinator for the Estate Management division, she loves developing relationships with all of our clients and keeping projects on track.

Yoli Del Buono

Lead Fine Gardener

Yoli has been captivated by nature and plants since childhood, leading her to start gardening at a young age. This early passion, combined with an interest in art and the built environment, inspired her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Landscape Design. Yoli is enthusiastic about every facet of the business, from plant propagation and care to the overall design process.

The problem was a cluster development being built directly behind us in what had previously been a field of trees—Barks Road to the rescue! Landscape Designer David Warzyniak gave us a plan, which Barks Road subsequently implemented, that supplemented and meshed beautifully with our existing plantings using a combination of beautiful and healthy trees, shrubs, and perennials tailored to our site. His plant suggestions were creative yet ones that will thrive in our backyard environment. His carefully thought-out design included a path that draws the eye away from the development and makes the beholder focus on the path and the plantings surrounding the path. We look forward in the coming years to seeing David’s plan become fully effective as the trees and shrubs become truly established. We highly recommend this very professional firm.
